Yumami - For a Healthier Super Bowl!
I was so excited when Yumami reached out to A Madison Mom asking if we would like to review some of their most popular items. You see, I had recently tried some at Whole Foods, and because there is apparently a certain etiquette in supermarket sampling protocols, I refrained from trying EVERYTHING and so now, THIS was my opportunity!
Okay, so here's the deal...this stuff is vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and delicious. How much more can you ask for in a food? I am always looking for a gluten-free snack option for on-the-go but this also is a game day game changer.
If you're anything like most Americans, you probably started the new year off declaring with a vow to be healthier. Then comes the Super Bowl, messing all that hard work up for millions of Americans!! Yumami, a NYC-based start up, is a perfect alternative for the health conscious or allergen ridden family. Yumami is elevating the culinary game by bringing healthy eating and delicious Asian flavors together in their chips and their dips.
The flavor combos are nothing you would expect, yet they go so well together. Take the lentil, roasted onion and shitake mushroom dip--it is a great, healthy alternative to your traditional chip & onion dip. And the edamame, green pea and wasabi is a no-brainer, awesome combo perfect for those of us who like a little kick in our dips. You can serve either with the Nori Rice Chips, but would also be great accompanied by some fresh veggies.
There is also the Black Bean Savory Dip which pairs the beans with chili and yuzu citrus. This would make a perfect pairing with tortilla chips as an alternative to a 7 layer bean dip or something similar. Again, so much flavor, without the guilt!! My favorite Yumami product of them all has to be the Red Bean Savory Dip made up of red bean, ginger and ponzu. You can taste the ginger slowly as you eat it--it's not overpowering but more refreshing and cuts through the heaviness that the beans could potentially bring to a dip. That's true for all of these, there is a lighter, acidic flavor in all that balances the heaviness of the bean, with something cleaner.
These dips can also be used on meats or as a spread on sandwiches to liven them up a bit.
Yumami makes 8 ounce dips, Nori Rice Ships, along with to-go packs, called "Go-Dips", which received both a Health Magazine Editor's Choice and an industry NEXTY award. These are a perfect sized chip and dip set packaged adorably into a "throw it in your bag" kinda way. They are also great for the kids to bring to school without having to worry about bringing nuts into a nut-free classroom or school.
Yumami products are available at Whole Foods, Wegman's and online (even Amazon has some of their products--use code BULUYU17 for a 10% discount code!!!). You can check out their website for more info!
So keep your friends and family happy and on track with those resolutions by swapping out some of those old fashioned snacks, for some new, healthy ones. All the flavor, none of the guilt!!
**Please note that these are MY opinions!!
