From Mom Misadventures to Farm & Feast - Welcome Jaime to A Madison Mom
Welcome… I am Jaime Conroy and I live in Madison with my husband and two kids. My son Jackson is 11 and will enter junior school this year. Jackson was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder when he was three years old. Our journey has been remarkable. Personally, it has taught me more than I ever could have imagined. I have learned to celebrate the little things in life, not sweat the small stuff, and to know that if you want things to change, you first have to find that change within you. I have been lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom for all but one of those eleven years. I also have a 9 year old daughter who loves everything artistic. She acts, sings, dances, paints, sculpts, draws, writes and loves to make home movies. She also keeps me on my toes with her dramatic flair, and has taught me to let things go, and move on. She has also taught me that I can handle more than I think I can, and to just keep swimming.
My background before kids, was as a theatrical Stage Manager and a Lighting Designer. My husband is an actor. Therefore, we have a love of theater and music in our house that can be downright cheesy, but we love it! (My husband begrudgingly got me tickets to Hamilton for my birthday in an effort to get me to stop talking about Hamilton! Ha! Joke’s on him…I can’t stop listening to the soundtrack in preparation for seeing Hamilton! AND, he has to go with me to see it!)
So, it should come as no surprise that I will focus on the arts in my posts. Things going on around town, or close by.
Another of my favorite things is to cook! Baking, basting, roasting, barbecuing, sauteing…you name it, I love it. So, look forward to my Farm to Feast posts every week where I will highlight one food in season, whether from our local Farmer’s Market, or just from the grocery store, and share with you a recipe complete with instructions and pics! They’ll be easy recipes that you can make with your kids.
Also be on the lookout for my Mom Misadventures…I’m really excited about this one. I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m hoping to travel out of my comfort zone, while remaining in my backyard, to find out what new experiences await me.
Nowadays, in our mostly digital world, it seems we are all so self-absorbed. Add the increasing demands to spend, spend, spend, and the our little world can seem like a ball of stress and isolation. I’m looking forward to sharing with you uplifting stories of kindness, and offering suggestions on how you can make someone’s day a little brighter too.
I look forward to sharing my stories with you.
Take Care! Madison Mama Jaime
