Mom Fika: Save-the-Date

“Sometimes when you pick up your child you can feel the map of your own bones beneath your hands, or smell the scent of your skin in the nape of his neck. This is the most extraordinary thing about motherhood - finding a piece of yourself separate and apart that all the same you could not live without.” ― Jodi Picoult, Perfect Match

Mom fika is coming back to Madison but with a new look and location. On Wednesday, June 12th I’ll be setting up shop at the Presbyterian Church of Madison in Fellowship Hall. Check-in at 9:30, get jolly with some java, and open up your mind and heart to this year’s theme, which is “surrender.”

What’s fika? Fika is the Swedish tradition of taking a break for coffee and conversation.

The theme for this fika is centered on surrendering. As moms we constantly take on challenges and roles that require us to expend copious amounts of energy on others. We'll discuss small but significant ways to restore or emphasize balance. It starts with surrendering.

I wanted to create something free for moms to gather in town. This is the role of a lifetime but it requires care, love, and passion. From one mom to another, take a break with me.

This is a kid friendly event. While I know it’s smack dab in the middle of the morning during the work week, I hope you’ll consider carving out some time to come spend time with me. If all goes well, more fikas will be popping up all over Madison.

Please save-the-date. There are a lot of surprises in store including some special giveaways and pieces of motherly love embedded into the event itself. Come experience the power of a quick pause. As for coffee, there’ll be plenty of it.
