On Saturday we ventured outside with the rest of the world. Spring sunshine ushered in all the happy vibes and outdoor play. From backyard shenanigans to the chaotic realm of wonder at the castle playground, we owned the day. What’s the perfect way to close out sun-filled, fresh air bliss in Madison? Ice cream. The answer is always ice cream.
We went to the new place in town, Main Freeze, which is located inside Main Street Subs at 187 Main Street. I was curious about the set up and scene, especially since my family visits Main Street Subs quite often. Full disclosure: it’s within walking distance of our home. So I poured all my hopes and dreams into our outing because if this place impressed me then I scored the best sugar walk off scene of all time. For those curious, the sugar walk off scene is when a preschool or toddler has consumed their limit, or near their limit, and must be exited immediately.
I’ll skip to the verdict. This place is a winner. They have magical mini cones. Far too often when I order the small it’s still too large for the tiniest taste tester in the family. But she also likes her own cone to showcase individuality. The traditional baby cones can prove problematic, but this magical mini cone was perfect for her to grasp and handle. Cheers, Main Freeze. And my unicorn obsessed preschooler ordered a unicorn sundae, which sealed this new operation as the best thing to hit Madison in her brief but yet very seasoned ice cream career.
I opted to taste test some vegan ice cream, which was outstanding. And for my gluten free friends, they have GF cones. I am pretty impressed with the customer service, menu, which happens to feature delicious sounding cereal blend-ins, and the overall vibe of this place.
Whenever something new comes to town I like to celebrate the entrepreneurial efforts, share the good news, and encourage visits. Main Freeze was an exclamation point to our first spring sentence. Here’s to many more.
