Jabberwocky was written by Daniel Coleman.  This book tour was organized by The Book Stalker.  I was provided with a book in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

Jabberwocky: a novel based on the epic poem by Lewis Carroll.

How can a boy succeed where an army has failed?

Tjaden, a young man who aspires to be an Elite soldier, blames himself when Elora’s beautiful face is disfigured by a bandersnatch. Elora hides behind her scars, feeling unlovable in a world that only confirms her doubts.

Before Tjaden has a chance to convince her the scars don’t matter, an even more terrifying monster comes between them—the Jabberwock. Tjaden must risk his life not only to prove his love to Elora but to save her life.

If the secrets of the vorpal sword fail, so will Tjaden.

My review

I was a little worried starting this book.  I always have loved Alice in Wonderland (at least... as portrayed by Disney in animation... and Tim Burton with Johnny Depp... and most recently on ABC on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland).  But... the couple of times I attempted to read anything written by Lewis Carroll my brain would go into a complete jumble.  Even when I understand the words... I don't understand the meaning.  And The Jabberwocky?  Well.. I gave up even understanding the words a long time ago. I mean seriously... ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves     Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:".... what does that mean????

Daniel Coleman's The Jaberwocky sounded interesting... so I gave Lewis Carroll a try again (in a round-a-bout way).  And do you know what?  I would let Daniel Coleman explain Lewis Carroll poems to me any day.  Any.  Day.  He absolutely won me over.  Tjaden was an amazing character.  Regardless of his bravery... he remains humble.  From the moment you meet him you just feel like you know his heart.  I was just as in love with Elora as Tjaden was.  Her self-confidence was truly inspiring.  I'd love for Coleman to continue his story of TJaden and Elora... and Ollie... and Lily...

And now... I finally understand a Lewis Carroll Poem! At least... I understand it in the way Daniel Coleman has written his story.  I can even actually tell you what ’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves      Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:" means now.  How 'bout that?
