Farm to Feast: Apple Crisp
Ah, fall is in the air, especially once the smell of this delicious crisp fills your home.
7 medium apples, sliced
1 tbsp gound cinnamon
1 tbsp sugar
2/3 cup melted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 cups chopped toasted pecans or walnuts (to toast, place on baking sheet and bake in a 350° oven for about 3- 4 minutes)
Toss apples, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Transfer to a deep pie dish.
In a mixing bowl, melt butter. Add flour, sugar, egg and toasted pecans.
Cover the apples with the mixture. Pat down to spread out and cover.
Place pie dish on top of a foil covered baking sheet to avoid messy bubbles from burning the bottom of your oven!
Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm with ice cream and whipped cream.
