Back to school doesn’t have to mean back to the grind! We’ve found some super fun family events for you and the kiddos this week.


Broadway Princess Party

Saturday, September 15th, 7 pm


Two-time Tony-nominated singer Laura Osnes hosts this magical evening of Broadway stars, including Susan Egan and Courtney Reed, performing princess songs. The performers will also share hilarious backstage stories of their royal antics on stage. 

The princesses will host an Unleash Your Inner Princess contest, a talent search for a local princess to be featured in the concert. See website for contest details.

Fall Harvest Fest

Sunday, September 16th, 12 - 5 pm

Fosterfields Living Historical Farm

The county hosts this country fair with wagon-rides, food trucks, farm animals, live music, exhibits, old-fashioned games, demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages.

PlayDay South Orange

Sunday, September 16th, 1-6 pm

South Orange Village Center

Get your game on at PlayDay South Orange, featuring more than 10 play areas. From board games to basketball, radio controlled cars to rope jumping, it’s the most fun you’ve ever had between two curbs.

PlayDay South Orange is free and open to the public, but some activities, such as inflatables, zip line, euro bungee and radio controlled cars require a wristband which can be purchased at the event for $10. Visit the website for more details, including parking guidelines and activities.


Project Caven Point Cleanup at Liberty State Park

Sunday, September 16th, 9 am - 12 pm

Low-tide at Caven Point Beach is a great time to explore the amazing wildlife of the Hudson River Estuary and clean-up the beach. Please join us for a guided walk focusing on the ecology of the estuary and a shoreline clean-up.

This event will be cosponsored by the NY/NJ Baykeeper’s Office and the Friends of Liberty State Park, and will feature special guest Dhruv Boruah, founder of the Thames Project https://www.thethamesproject.org/. Dhruv will be cycling the waterway on his bamboo cycle to raise awareness of the problems of plastics in our waterways.

The event will begin at the Liberty State Park Kayak Launch for the launching of Dhruv on his cycle and include a walk along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway to Caven Point Beach where we will explore the diversity of wildlife and remove plastics and debris that has washed ashore.

Pre-registration is requested, and free parking is available.
