Alvin Ailey Dance Theater

You won't want to miss Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 60th anniversary season, with dazzling programs that include the New Jersey premiere of the company's first two-act work Lazarus and the Mother's Day program Timeless Ailey.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from a now-fabled performance in March 1958 at New York City’s 92nd Street Y. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance forever changed the perception of American dance.

Golden Spike 150 Day
Whippany Rail Museum
Saturday, May 11th - various times
Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad, with vintage train rides, special exhibits, live music and and family-friendly events.
Trains depart at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm, rain or shine, from the museum.
Tickets: $16 for adults, $11 for children under 12, Free for children under 1.

Mother’s Day Fairy Homes
Great Swamp EOC
Sunday, May 12th - 12:30 - 4:30 pm
Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center welcomes moms and kids to create mystical homes made from natural materials. Enjoy a story on fairy home etiquette, and finish with a tour of the newly constructed fairy homes.

Mother’s Day at Grounds for Sculpture
Sunday, May 12th - 10 am - 9 pm
Grounds for Sculpture is the perfect setting for a Mother's Day outing. Stroll through the 42 acres of beautiful gardens and amazing works of art, with a special discount admission fee for Mother's Day.

Storytime at the Museum
Museum of Early Trades & Crafts
Thursday, May 16th - 4 pm
Stories come alive at METC. Come to the museum dressed as your favorite storybook character, and join us as we read your favorite stories.
We will also do some crafts inspired by several beloved children's stories. Feel free to bring your favorite book and we will read as many of these as we can.
