We’ve found some super fun activities to celebrate the end of the dog days of summer before the kids head back to school! We wish you a happy and safe weekend!

Boonton Fire Department Carnival

Through September 1st - various times

Enjoy rides, games, live music, scrumptious fair food, and fireworks at 10pm Sunday. Make it a fun weekend with family and friends, and say farewell to summer in a memorable way. 

On Saturday, the 128-year-old Boonton Fire Department will participate in a parade that begins at 1:30pm sharp and delights the crowd that lines up along Main Street. Rain date is Monday, September 3.

Ride bracelets available for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. 

Hours:

Thursday and Friday: 6pm-12am
Saturday and Sunday: 3pm-12am

St. Bartholomew/UNICO Italian Festival

Scotch Plains

Friday, August 30 - Monday, September 2nd - various time

Perhaps the best kept secret in NJ is the traditional Annual Labor Day Italian Feast, an annual tradition honoring San Nicola di Bari, the patron saint of the town of Montazzoli, Italy, since 1974. The feast is a great family event and has something for everyone to enjoy.

There is nightly live music, rides, games, and delicious food, including favorites like pizza, pasta, zeppoles, clams, mussels, and calzones. In addition, there are nightly 50/50 drawings and a super 50/50 raffle on Monday.

Friday through Sunday, 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Monday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Labor Day BBQ @ Grounds for Sculpture

Monday, September 2nd - 10 am - 5 pm

Celebrate Labor Day with an all-American barbecue featuring burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers at Peacock Cafe. Spend the day at Grounds for Sculpture and enjoy the beautiful landscape and art on display.

Stream Study

Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area, Boonton

Friday, August 30th - 10 am - Noon

Learn about the stream and spend time looking for some of its residents. Wear boots or water shoes, and old clothing.

Mendham Labor Day Carnival

Friday, August 30 - Monday, September 2 - 10 am - 5 pm

The Mendham Pastime Club will be holding their annual Labor Day Carnival at Borough Park.

This long running Labor Day weekend carnival features exciting rides for all ages, plenty of delicious festival food, games & prizes, giant 50/50 raffle, and much more!

On Labor Day, the annual parade kicks off at 10am, marching up Main Street and ending at the fair grounds at Borough Park. The carnival begins mid-morning and ends with a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 9:15pm.
