Unauthored Letters (book review & giveaway)
About the book:
Dr. John Sanders has given Rebecca Brownell a new chance at life. After an isolated childhood, an abused adolescence, and an institutionalized existence, Rebecca is finally free to conquer her demons and build a promising life.
However, once Rebecca achieves her dreams, eerily personal letters begin arriving in the mail. Letters sent from someone who knows far more about her past than anyone should. Letters that intimately question Rebecca's sanity.
And then the letters turn threatening...
Unauthored Letters is the inspiring tale of a woman's troubled past, a man's quest to protect her, and their battle to fight a mysterious foe. It's a story of trust strained by illness, love tried by lies, and promises terrorized by illusive danger.

The mystery is simple . . . but finding out the hows and whys are enough to maintain an interest in discovering how it all ends. Unauthored Letters is a captivating and thoughtful read without being pretentious.
Unauthored Letters is just such a well written story. The characters are so well developed and real. I loved how the book felt like it had such defined sections and time periods... but it was all so connected. Each and every moment was so necessary to the story telling.
I struggle with choosing my favorite thing about this book... but I think I have to go with the development of John in his relationship with Rebecca. It amazed me when he would step back and try to keep separate his personal thoughts on her from what his thoughts as a therapist would be. I can only imagine what a struggle it would be to try to decide between trusting and believing and supporting your wife... while also trying to trust your professional expertise as a therapist and want to do what's best for your wife's health. Which is more important?
I also have to add it was amazing to watch Rebecca's growth through her mental illness. Again, the struggle with her trying to trust in herself ... but working against her illness... and also wanting John to believe in her, while also wondering if she was in danger of losing her mind again. I think that Allread did an amazing job of depicting mental illness.
