All That's Unclaimed (book review)
All That's Unclaimed was written by Constance Phillips. It is the second book in the Sunnydale Days series. This post was organized by N K Author Services. I was provided with a copy in exchange for my honest book review. All opinions are my own.
About the book:
Ben Crawford is forced to face the ghosts of his past after his mother’s accident and Anna Jenkins’s announcement she’s starting her own stables. Only then does he find the strength to hold on to all he’s left unclaimed. *** Ben Crawford has always believed the professional respect and acceptance he desired couldn’t be found at Sunnydale Farms. There were just too many ghosts residing in his broken home. Only when Anna Jenkins, the one constant at his mother’s therapeutic riding facility, announces she is leaving to start her own stables is Ben forced to grasp hold of all he’s left unclaimed.
Ben and Anna definitely didn't have a simple romance. Timing was bad... and Ben was a man dealing with some complicated baggage. Like the first book in the series (All That's Unspoken) this story was really about figuring out what was important in life. Deciding exactly what you wanted out of life to be happy... and exactly what your were willing to give up or compromise on.
I've never ridden horses, but I do have a degree in Child Development. I really enjoyed learning a little bit about using therapeutic horseback riding with children with physical and emotional special needs. I can imagine it's a really interesting field of study... as well as a rewarding career. So... in edition to loving the romance (and the bit of suspense as to where it would go)... I also really enjoyed all of the back story.
I loved that Nate, Hailey, and Lori were all still active characters in this story. I can imagine that they would all still continue to be involved in the future stories. It makes the development of characters and relationships really full.
I don't love the cover... but only because the picture in my head of Ben is completely not the guy on the cover.
About the author:
When not writing stories of finding and rediscovering love, Constance is counting down the days until her son and daughter-in-law make her a grandma and planning a cross-country motorcycle trip with her husband for the not-so-distant future…if they can find a sidecar big enough for the pups.
