Tempering Steel (book review)

TS banner Tempering Steel was written by Lea Barrymire.  It is the 2nd book in the Coyote Bluff series.  The tour has been organized by N K Author Services.  I was provided with a copy in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

About the book:

Tempering Steel Cover AReAfter months of aching to be with grumpy Sheriff Connor Manning, Margarete Barrie finally gets her chance when a coyote shifter takes refuge in her home.

Connor’s resolve to stay away from Margie weakens when she takes in his packmate. Fighting his inner animal and jealousy makes him question his decision to leave women and love alone.

They’re thrown together to catch a trapper or hunter threatening the pack. Even the possible danger doesn’t cool the tension between them.

My review:

After reading and reviewing Accidentally Yours (the 1st book in the series) I had commented on how much I hoped there would be another book.  I became slightly giddy while having a conversation with Lea Barrymire in my comments about the upcoming books.  I was just so excited to know that Connor and Margie's book would be coming up... and now here it is... and it's just as good as I had hoped it would be.

Connor doesn't disappoint by being just as grumpy as he was in the first book.  I loved the way we slowly find out just why he behaves the way he does with Margie.  I won't give spoilers... but just know you totally forgive his grumpy ways... and so does Margie.  When the two of them finally both give in to the unavoidable the resulting sparks are hot.

The more books I read about shifters and mates just makes me love the whole genre more and more.  The uncontrollable love and urges are just swoon-worthy.  Sigh.

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR ZEKE IN BOOK 3.

About the author:

1424300_466918153429701_129160818_nLea spends her time writing, reading and working. She is both a stay at home mom and a "work from home" professional. Her knight in shining armor is not only her husband but also her best friend. Her heathen children are the entertainment that keeps her going. The stories that tumble from her fingers are definitely a combination of her fascination with science and the emotional aspect of romantic encounters.

Lea lives in Western New York with her hubby, three children, and miscellaneous critters. Before the rugrats, she lived a life of adventure, following her husband all over Europe with the US military. She’s slept in a car outside Paris, drove six hours just to see tulips in the Netherlands, and knocked ash from her shoes at Pompeii. Now she spends her time in life’s adventures at soccer games, PTA meetings and school plays.

Lea has loved reading from a very young age, spending many sleepless nights devouring books. Science fiction and paranormal were her favorite genres to read as a teenager, and that love bled into her adult life. She started writing during a bout of insomnia, to fill time, and found it filled a creative void. Now she communes regularly with the characters in her head and tries not to laugh out loud when they say something funny.

When Lea isn’t reading, writing or corralling kids, she enjoys watching movies and sciencey shows, or just kicking back and listening to some music.

Ian can’t believe his luck. After a stupid decision he’s been run out of every shifter territory he’s entered. Hoping Coyote Bluff would be different seems to have been his downfall. Cammie’s ex comes calling, Ian’s found out by the local Alpha and the town seems bent on keeping them apart. Can they fight against everyone at once to find happiness together?
