Sing... Sing a Song...

Lately Zoe is singing all the time. Well... not really lately. She's actually been singing a lot for quite a while. She loves shows with music and sings along with The Backyardigans, the Wiggles, and all those other shows I let her watch that have singing and dancing (yes, you can call the mommy police on me... I violate the "too much TV rule" all the time). She's also been singing the ABC's for quite a while too. What's happening lately is that she's singing on her own at random times and we're able to understand what song she's singing. Most frequently her song of choice is The Itsy Bitsy Spider. (That Itsy Bitsy climbs that spout about a hundred times a day at our house.) She also favors BaaBaa Black Sheep and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star(although her version is Twinkle little little star...) The newest addition to her repertoire is the song that most impresses me though.

Zoe has started singing "Sing, Sing a Song" from Sesame Street. The first time I heard her was over the monitor at nap time. It took me a minute to figure out what she was singing... but that's what it was. Now at random times while she's playing she'll just start singing it. I've tried to get her to sing it on video a few times.... and here's the best I could get....

(before hitting play... be well aware of the fact that Zoe fits into the "aaawwww.... what a cute singing toddler" category...but Mommy singing to coax her along fits the lyrics "don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear...". YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!)

You'll also notice that an Oreo cuts into the singing a bit... and some cookie fingers desperately want to smear the camera... and Zoe can be quite silly! We'll have to keep working on it. Maybe with a bit more practice we can get a better recording where Zoe does more singing and I do less. In the mean time... if Zoe's version didn't quite satisfy your need to hear "Sing, Sing a Song" here's how I remember it from when I was little...
