My Blood Approves (book review)
My Blood Approves was written by Amanda Hocking. It is the first book in a series.
Description from Amanda Hocking's Blog:
Seventeen-year-old Alice Bonham's life feels out of control after she meets Jack. With his fondness for pink Chuck Taylors and New Wave hits aside, Jack's unlike anyone she's ever met.
Then she meets his brother, Peter. His eyes pierce through her, and she can barely breathe when he's around. Even though he can't stand the sight of her, she's drawn to him.
But falling for two very different guys isn't even the worst of her problems. Jack and Peter are vampires, and Alice finds herself caught between love and her own blood...
I read Amanda Hocking's Trylle Trilogy quite a while ago, and really enjoyed the series and her writing. It was so different (um... not about vampires when everything was about vampires) and fast paced. A really enjoyable read. So I wanted to read more of her.
I downloaded the My Blood Approves series and found the writing was still fun and quick. The story... not my favorite. But, I did find that she put a little bit of a different spin on the whole vampire story. Specifically, I loved the idea of vampires being so strongly attracted to one other vampire/person. The strong immediate bond to their soul mate. And then, throwing in the twist Jack and Peter both feel the pull of Alice.
But really.... what is it with vampires being so drawn to 17 year olds?
