Madison Rotary Family Festival to Benefit Union Beach
In the weeks following Hurricane Sandy, Madison formed a partnership with Union Beach, NJ. Since the formation of the partnership Madison has been able to offer support to Union Beach through monetary donations (over $200,000), material donation (computers/holiday gifts/furniture/etc.), and volunteering efforts.
This weekend the Madison Rotary Club will host it's 4th Family Festival... and this year the proceeds will benefit the families of Union Beach who were effected by Hurricane Sandy. So... if you're still making plans for this weekend... stop over at the Family Festival in Madison. It's an awesome way to support those still suffering for the effects of Hurricane Sandy... while having some family fun!
As a side note... I was just reading this on the Madison Rotary Club's website, and wanted to share:
President of the Madison Rotary Club, Carmela Moeller, her husband Hal Moeller and District Governor Avinash Tilak attended the Board of Education meeting at Union Beach on May 29 to present a $5000 donation to Union Beach Sandy Relief.
“While we were there, it was such a thrill to learn that students would be returning to the Union Beach Memorial School on Monday, June 3 to complete the year. It was the best news because these kids have been bussed for months from school to school in neighboring towns. The teachers were also toured through the school that evening,” she said.
The students JUST returned to their school on June 3rd! It's so fabulous to hear that things are slowly getting back to normal (although I'm sure life will never really be quite the same). But, at the same time, it breaks my heart to think of how displaced those children must feel while being bussed to neighboring schools.
So... while a lot of the Jersey Shore is open for business and ready for the summer (oh. my. goodness did our #JerseyLove group have an amazing time in Atlantic City... and even in the rain in Belmar!!!) there are still shore towns that need support. Shore towns that might not be vacation destinations. There are so many ways to support. The Madison Rotary Family Festival is a pretty fun way to start!
